I have been involved in the pub restaurant business all my life, from teenage years helping in the family business to working and learning in quality local pub restaurants.
My wife Clare quit her career in 1999 and joined me running The Fitzwilliam Arms in Castor, Peterborough. We moved in 2000, and are proud of our 7 successful years at The Chester Arms in Chicheley, before moving to what became the award winning White Hart in Flitton in 2007 where we continued to build on our experience and reputation. We recently packed up our business, home and 2 cocker spaniels and moved here to The Old Swan in January 2018.
Clare's parents Ken and Ann Caves, are third generation family butchers at Ingle & Caves in Marston Moretaine, with Clare's brother Oli taking the reigns alongside Ken in 2005 to become the fourth generation. They have supported us both personally and professionally throughout our career, and we are proud to have seen Oli & Ken supplying us with only the best quality beef since 2000.
My parents Michael and Mary started their success in the 70's at The Magpie in Harrold, then moving to The Mill House in Sharnbrook where they remained until retirement in mid nineties. Mary still helps out most lunchtimes - she's become a 'historical' part of the package, while Michael remains out of the limelight but helps behind the scenes.
Our connection with The Old Swan, Astwood
The Old Swan is a pub with great significance to our story - we had our 'first date' on the 7th February 1999 at The Old Swan, we fell in love with the pub and so the story continues.....
